Stockpile Defense Medical Presents STOP THE BLEED


We are excited to announce the first segment in our medical training offered here at Stockpile Defense. Starting in August, we will be hosting a new medical training event called Stop the Bleed. This course is taught by a nationally certified Stop the Bleed instructor, Brad Richards, who has worked in the wildland fire community and is a current NREMT.


The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma is leading the effort to save lives by teaching the civilian population to provide a vital initial response to stop uncontrolled bleeding in emergencies. Stop the Bleed® Training is an interactive training program, that provides the foundation for implementing lifesaving initiatives. The STB training program will prepare you to respond to and mitigate life-threatening injuries in a hostile related environment. STB training will teach you to be more prepared and proficient in severe bleeding control and life-saving techniques. The course is founded on the principles of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) a. curriculum is consistent with the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) guidelines and meets the recommendations of the Hartford Consensus document on improving survival from active shooter events. The Hartford Consensus, in collaboration with the American College of Surgeons (ACS), emphasizes that no one should die from uncontrolled bleeding.


What You’ll Learn
What stops bleeding? In a STOP THE BLEED® course, you’ll learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out: (1) How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound; (2) How to pack a wound to control bleeding; (3) How to correctly apply a tourniquet. These three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life.


Who Can Take the Course
A STOP THE BLEED® course is for people who are interested in learning this lifesaving skill. The American College of Surgeons STOP THE BLEED® campaign has trained over 1 million people including students, teachers, and community groups. We are committed to training anyone who is old enough to understand what the course teaches and is interested in learning how to STOP THE BLEED® and save a life.


Upon completion of the course and demonstration of competency, successful students will receive an official Certification of Completion recognized by Stop the Bleed®
