Ultrasonic Cleaning:
THE NEWEST SERVICE OFFERED BY STOCKPILE DEFENSE
Suppressed shooting is polite shooting, but after prolonged use, your suppressor and host firearm can build up carbon and unburnt powder. While we suggest field stripping and cleaning, there are some nooks and crannies that are just hard to clean. As carbon builds over time, it’s nearly impossible to get your parts looking brand new by simple hand cleaning methods. This is where the Ultrasonic cleaner ‘shines’ (pun intended).
How does an Ultrasonic Cleaner work?
Ultrasonic Cleaning systems use high-frequency sound waves. These sound waves are transmitted through the solution to clean and remove debris from material. These high-frequency sound waves disrupt the ultrasonic solution making extremely small vapor-filled bubbles. These bubbles then burst when they make contact with the surface of parts. This reoccurring implosion process causes a break down of caked on surface contaminants.
What can you clean with an Ultrasonic Cleaner?
The real question is, what can’t you clean with this. There are a TON of different uses for Ultrasonic Cleaning systems. These industries commonly use Ultrasonic Cleaners:
- Automotive
- Medical
- Aerospace
- jewelry
- Firearm
That being said, there are different frequencies and solutions made for specific applications. When your wife takes her ring to get cleaned at a jeweler, they aren’t cleaning off carbon and gun powder. This is a less aggressive process and solution than what we do.
HERE AT THE SHOP, WE’RE OFFERING ULTRASONIC CLEANING SERVICES FOR HANDGUNS, RIFLES, SHOTGUNS, AND SUPPRESSORS.
What is the process that my firearm or suppressor will go through?
We use an industry specific Ultrasonic Cleaning machine that’s designed to be effective, quick, and thorough. The detergent solution we use contains sodium silicate and trisodium dicarboxymethyl alaninate. It’s designed to remove organic and inorganic soils such as cutting fluids, drawing oils, buffing compounds, grease, dirt, carbon, and lubricants. We inspect, prepare, and disassemble your firearm or suppressor then submerge the parts into the tank. Our technician adjusts the controls and starts the process.
Once your item is Ultrasonic clean, we rinse it, allow it to dry, inspect the part, then submerge it into a special lubrication formula designed for firearms and prevention of rust. This lubrication and anti-rust formula meets the requirements of MIL-L-644B and VV-L- 800. When we return your product to you, it will be ready for use.
